You will receive the number of the your trusted dog sitter 24 hours in advance of your visit you will find also the guide to the meeting point which is located, looking at the Basilica, at the end of the colonnade on the left. Look for the metal detectors located at the intersection of Via Paolo VI and Piazza del Sant'Uffizio (in the section above "how to get there" it is well marked on the map). Use the illustration on your voucher as a reference: he will be wearing a blue jacket with the Vox Mundi logo printed on it, waiting for you to take you around one of the most magnificent symbols of Rome: St. Peter's Basilica and find out all about this extraordinary masterpiece !

Be prepared to be amazed when you enter through the dedicated entrance to the basilica. This temple of Christianity is not only a religious symbol but is also an extraordinary masterpiece of architecture and history.

Discover the glorious Renaissance architecture and admire the art of Michelangelo and his Pietà, Donato Bramante, Carlo Maderno, Gian Lorenzo Bernini and many others.

Learn the history behind the "Chair of St. Peter", an ancient e legendary throne which is thought to have been used by the very first pope. Find out how and why this gigantic basilica was built!

Once finished the tour of about an hour the dog sitter will wait for you outside for half an hour, you will be able to stay inside the basilica for this extra time to enjoy the charm of antiquity again before immersing yourself in modernity again.

HOW TO GET

  • Metro: Choosing to travel between the twin cities of Rome and Vatican City using the metro is an efficient and economical option. Get on the underground line A and get off at Ottaviano station; the station is located in the immediate vicinity of the Vatican City. From here, St. Peter's Square and St. Peter's Basilica can be reached in less than 5 minutes on foot.
  • Bus: Using buses 40 and 64 is the fastest way to reach Vatican City. These buses run regularly between the twin cities and pass close to major historical points of interest, allowing you to reach your destination in comfort. If you take bus 40, get off at Piazza Pia: Piazza San Pietro is just a few steps from here; if you take bus 64, get off at Santo Spirito Hospital or at Terminal Gianicolo: from here you can walk to St. Peter's Square in 10 minutes.
  • Car: Paid parking in Via del Gianicolo, 2
